I am new to the field.  I too desire to learn the tarot for enlightenment.  My goals are to help others as well as myself.
I've always felt that there was more for me than just living each day to wake up, go to work, come home clean house, cook dinner and wallah! Bedtime.
do the same thing over again!  This is one of those times that you make the choice of change.

Hi,

Tarot is wonderfull subject to learn, it gives you insight into so many matters, most people are unaware of.

Have you already acquired a deck, if not, I would suggest the Rider Waite deck, as it contains most of the symbolism spoken about in the forum. There are so many topics, which has been discussed, that you can truly get a good feel for Tarot, when reading these topics.

Welcome, and we hope you will enjoy your Tarot experience.

How much do you want to learn? Links to subjects are on page 10 and 18!

Hi Guys,

I want to keep this thread alive. Many newcomers will hook up on this topic. However, we discuss so many topics that it is important to keep updating this discussion.

Pirbid, Cedars. I tend to dissappear, but there's always life in any situation! I need to go through this entire thread, each and every posting! We discussed so many topics that to only host a few links will not do justice to the input from all the others participating!

What I did, is to edit my postings on every page to direct new visitors, or members to this posting, where I will list all the links. This is a thread that receives a lot of hits, and as you indicated, may be daunting to newcommers, and experienced readers alike. Cedars you assume correctly in saying we only scratched the surface, there is absolutely so much more information, which we will never get from books, comercially available. The wealth of information comes from the chats, questions, answers and theories, we can explore!

I,m going to keep on editing this posting, to include the Links to discussions we are busy with, and where to find the documents I host.

If we look at the history of Tarot, it started out as an ordinary card game; these are only two variations of the game rules;

Not only that, I've gotten me nose in them books!!!! I need to make sense of what i'm trying to understand, and really, check out Aleph and then you will understand. As I said, I'm a mere glorified gardener(MSc. Bot), not a scholar.

Pirbid,

On the other thread, I posted a basic explanation of 2 or Beth. You must know, that everything can be simplified to a large extent. The only way in which we may be able to do this is to actually have comments, thoughts and questions.

There is so much to be learned from this study, but it needs to be done, with patience. The interplay between the letters in the Kaballah is complicated, but each has a grass-roots origin. Once we establish that! We can start making sense on a higher level. :smt007

Let me expand on my "work or job".

We grow plants from cuttings, seed, whatever.
What are the steps in this.
1) Cut the cutting-----Something, yet nothing saleable yet.
2) Place in rooting agent and river sand.
3) Initialisation of rooting.
4) Starting to establish a stronger root system or rotting and dying---Foundation.
5) Being transplanted into the potting soil. Shock to the plantlet---Upsets.
6) Developing bio-flora(biological agent around roots to reduce water and minerals to a acceptable nutrient to the main plantlet).
7) The initial "taking" or rapid death, after this first shock.
8) The plant being established and growth is evident.
9) The plant has now settled and actually reach a stage where it becomes stagnant, due to the restriction in the smaller container.
10) Plant being sold, planted in open ground, and of we go, with rapid growth and becoming well established. But, the client may transplant the plant in such a way that it would go back to 5, and perhaps die. The Wheel of Fortune?

Blessed be

:) See? I knew your job gave you a wider vision of life than mine (I only try to keep people from losing their lives, but it's not a very philosophical pursuit, whatever it may look like).

Don't despair of us, PW. You know we are doggedly trying to follow you, and I will go back to all posts not yet clear in my mind and ask you about the most obscure points. Good thing you aren't past the second Hebrew letter yet!

I have just caught up to two nights sleep, so I should be in top form this evening to continue exploring Tarot's bypaths. BTW, my next step is to walk your CC path from 1 to 10, position by position till I get a better understanding of its 'why'.

So keep'em coming and we'll try to catch'em!  :smt020

Well, I try to bring life, you try to keep it ghosting. Same shit different version?

The CC, as I outlined it, is virtually RW, or let's say, the "traditional" way it's supposed to be done. The only differance, is that I added the numeric movement and value, in a less obscure way.

I mean, giving an injection, has steps to follow, otherwise you sit with botched ones, as I have. Moving to the outer skin and then big problem. The Universe is also buildt on numeric sequences. Everything in life is a matter of one plus one. Otherwise we would not have had Pythagoras or even Einstein for that matter.

The CC is extremely atypical, it has very certain and very clear definitions. As the posting on the sevens, what is the significance of house seven, if we consider all the sevens as a direction or path to be followed. Think of the Chariot, when you consider card seven! Strength in card 8.

Learning Tarot is so wonderfull, everyday for me and my cards, is an adventure! To me, it's not only a matter of reading cards, no, no. I always "Tarotise" even in the most mundane things, I join it to Tarot. I don't live my life by Tarot, but my life and second job is 99% of everyday committed to Tarot. What makes it interesting is to see where a person is, in the walk from 1 to 10. Then the possibility is that this person is actually sitting in number nine, but hasn't even move beyond 0--the Fool.

You know, it's a way of life, not a science!

Blessed be.

Hi everyone,

I just joined this board today and have to confess that this (so far) is my absolute favourite thread. :D

I've studied Freemasonry since my early teens (this kind of thing has always been part of normality for me, my dad has been studying and a member for years!) and have delved in and out of various literature regarding esoteric symbolism.

My biggest problem has always been going off on tangents. There are so many connections to make between various philosophies! You start researching practices of masons, pick up about Knights Templar, go on to tarot and ley lines, symbolism within Catholicism, Hermeticism, Kabbalah, geometry, astronomy, astrology, fibonacci... and before you know it, you're on a completely different path to where you started but somehow a little bit fuller in the knowledge banks! :)

I'd love to note it all down in a big database. So far I just have notebooks filled with barely decipherable scrawl!

One consistent factor for me, however, is that tarot cards do seem to act as an indicator for the story of someone's life. How this happens, I am not sure. Is it the Barnum effect? Is is part of divination of a Grand Architect's plans? Personally speaking, there seems too many threads in history to simply pass over 'hidden knowledge' as a human folly.

Anyway, I'm rambling now but would love to see this thread carry on, it's great reading the individual interpretations! x

Welcome to the site Englandsrose.... It is refreshing to see 'new blood' who is as interested as we are.

I agree with your comments that the more we delve into these things - with all the -ism words that you have mentioned - the more we get lost in the haystack...... but towards the end if something stays in our system as a piece of knowledge, then so be it.
Personally, I do not believe that such knowledge is needed to read the cards, but to see the background of the symbolism and the people who have given us these cards and their background into free masonry and the likes (I was one myself at some stage in my life) makes it all the more interesting.

But, if we try to find some far fetched One single meaning in all these, I think we may lose our purpose - whatever that purpose may be. For me, personally, the tarot represents a set of stories pertaining to the ordinary human life, regardless of its symbolism. For one second, let us assume if A.E. WAITE had a Hindu background, or if he belong to a different group than Free Masonry...... I wonder what the symbolism of tarot would have been like?

Enjoy your stay and please do pass on your knowledge to the threads..
