Learning I-Ching 01
Hi :smt006,
Seems like a long time I don't come here hey? Well, anyways. Dated to the amazing number of people who don't understand anything about the I-Ching I decided to give a light (and I'll try to do it weekly) about the I ching. First I will start with the energy concept :) (I myself found the explanations here useful but still dificult, and its really sad the number of posts in this forum for such an interesting topic :) ).
ENERGY CONCEPT
Qi in taoism, is an energy that flows through all things (material and non material, its universal) and its generated by an interaction between yin and yang ( I will explain more about those later). Also, remember that Ki = Qi = Chi are all the same, pronounced "chee".
Qi = energy generated by the shifting balances and tensions between earth and cosmos.
yin--> Passive, Flexible Energy
yang--> Active, Firm (solid) Energy
Ki qualities: emotions, intellect, atmosphere, temperature, phisical traits,sensory stimulations and colours.
Heaven Qi is the energy of the cosmos and the movement of the clouds and wind above the earth.
Earth Qi is the energy generated by the shape of the earth (the force of its magnetic fields) and the effect of the combination of the five chinese elements.
Human Qi is the energy generated in the social interaction between people.
And thats the trinity of heaven, earth, and humanity (also called chinese trinity). The trinity, underlies the divination process in the I-Ching (so I suggest you to re-read that and if there is any question please ask :) ).
lets make something: if this post get 3 replies, I'll keep on posting :smt003 [/img]

best book I've seen...
...is Stephen Karcher's 'Total I Ching' which is based on an original Zhouyi Dao translation. There are a few out, but some 'read' a bit stiltedly.
