Hindu Wisdom

The word "Philosophy" is derived from the Ancient Greek - philosophía (compounded from phílos: friend, or lover and sophía: wisdom). To quote from WikiPedia, "Philosophy is the discipline concerned with the questions of what is the right way to live (ethics), what sorts of things ultimately exist and what are their essential natures (metaphysics), what is to count as genuine knowledge (epistemology), and what are the correct principles of reasoning (logic).

Hindu Wisdom

On this ever-revolving wheel of being
The individual self goes round and round
Through life after life, believing itself
To be a separate creature, until
It sees its identity with the Lord of Love
And attains immortality in the indivisible whole.

-Shvetashvatara Upanishad

From The Upanishads

Why This Lord of Love?
Must leave its fragment beloved to wander alone?
Why this 'simple' and circular wheel of existence?
Be experienced as a roller coaster or a Ferris Wheel at its easiest?

Why must LOVE be learned over lifetimes as if it was a school with grades?
And thereby be reduced to something cerebral?

Maybe the analogies are ALL wrong!
Maybe that is why there remains so much strife and confusion
Maybe we 'toddlers' should not have listened to our teachers ...?
Promising better destinies if we learned as told and paid more attention...!

Because sometimes the lord of love takes for granted the love he has and the love that loves him.  Image
