STRATEGY #4 FOR STRESS MANAGEMENT

PERSONAL TIME
Take breaks.
In a busy, sometimes stressful day, schedule time for regular breaks.
Take a walk, meditate, or just get up from your desk and go somewhere else for a few minutes.

TWO POSTULATES OF HYPNOSIS

1. Unwavering belief precedes some but not all healing and change, and lack of unwavering belief can precede some but not all failure in healing and change.

2. The practitioner of change and healing plays a role in the likelihood of healing or change in the client or patient.
This can include but is not limited to a practitioners experience, education and operator attitude and expectancy.

DEDUCTIONS FROM THE TwO POSTULATES OF HYPNOSIS

The client and practitioner are both important in the healing/change process.

The client who has an unwavering belief in the certainty of healing/change is more likely to receive healing or the change desired than the individual who is less certain of improvement.

The practitioner who has an unwavering belief in the certainty of healing/change of his client is more likely to facilitate the healing or the change of the client than a practitioner who is less certain.

The client’s faith in the practitioner aids in improvement.

The client’s faith in the process (whatever it is) aids in improvement.

The client’s perception of the practitioners belief in the process is critical to improvement.

QUOTATIONS

Pantanjali

       When you are inspired by some great purpose,
       some extraordinary project,
       all of your thoughts break their bonds:
       your mind transcends limitations,
       your consciousness expands in every direction and you find yourself in a new, great and wonderful world.
       Dormant forces, faculties and talents become alive and you discover yourself to be a greater person than you
       ever dreamed yourself to be.

Japanese Proverb

       If you understand everything, you must be misinformed.

Chief Seattle

       Humankind has not woven the web of life.
       We are but one thread within it.
       Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves.
       All things are bound together.
       All things connect.

Mark Twain

               Anger is an acid that can do more harm to the vessel in which it is stored than to anything on which it is poured.

Lao Tzu  "The Way of Life"

   There is no need to run outside
   For better seeing,
   Nor to peer from a window.
   Rather abide
   At the center of your being;
   For the more you leave it, the less you learn.
   Search your heart and see
   If he is wise who takes each turn:

Albert Einstein
   There are two ways to live your life.
   One is as though nothing is a miracle.
   The other is as though everything is a mirac

Zen

"Master, do you know the secret of life?"
"Yes I do."
"Will you tell it to me?"
"No"
"Why not?"
"It's a secret."

Frank Herbert "Dune"

   I must not fear.
   Fear is the mind-killer.
   Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
   I will face my fear.
   I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
   And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
   Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
   Only I will remain.

J.P. Morgan

   The first step toward getting somewhere is to decide
   that you are not going to stay where you are.

The Dhammapada (Sayings of the Buddha)

   The thought manifests as the word;
   The word manifests as the deed;
   The deed develops into habit;
   And habit hardens into character;
   So watch the thought and its ways with care,
   And let it spring from love
   Born out of concern for all beings...
   As the shadow follows the body as we think, so we become.

Lao Tzu " The Tao Te Ching "

... clarity is learned by being patient in the presence of chaos.

MYTHS

Myth #1. The Hypnotist will be able to control my mind.
Fact: No one can control your mind, unless you let them. Your Hypnotherapist will give you suggestions that you want to be given, based on the Pre-Hypnotic Interview. At no point during your session will you lose control of your mind. If you hear a suggestion that you don’t agree with, or don’t understand, your subconscious mind will automatically reject it.

Myth #2. I will be made to perform embarrassing acts, such as bark like a dog, or walk like a duck.
Fact: This assumption is based on Stage Hypnotism and Hollywood fiction. The truth is, these people volunteer to act on stage, and they allow themselves to participate in silly suggestions. Hypnotherapy is a serious process of self-improvement, not entertainment.
