Good Day
Moon in Capricorn sextile Uranus
While the Moon is in Capricorn the mood is serious and things may proceed slowly at first but progress is likely. You should be able to get what you want as long as you stay the course. Saturn - Capricorn's ruler - requires discipline to get anything done but promises success if you persevere. Help comes when least expected.

Timing and the Moon

Post by jackielee » Wed Feb 10, 2010 2:25 am

Timing and the Moon
Electional astrology is the astrology of timing and the Moon plays the most significant role because she is responsible for setting events in motion. As the closest orbiting body to the earth, her influence is so important that two branches of astrology, Horary and Electional, use the Moon as the most significant planet. In Electional astrology we use the Moon to help determine the best time to do something.

To begin with, we have to find the times during which the Moon is void-of-course. Since the Moon changes signs approximately every two-and-a-half days, she is considered void when she ceases to form any major applying aspect to another planet before moving into the next sign. During these time intervals, things usually don't turn out as planned. As a rule of thumb "nothing of consequence" will evolve so it's best to avoid Moon void periods when planning something of importance. However, routine activities are usually not affected and Moon void does favor artistic or creative activities, leisurely pursuits, relaxation, meditation and the like.

As a general rule, it is most desirable to begin a new project or one that requires growth after a New Moon. The two week period after the New Moon each month is the Moon's waxing phase. She is increasing in light, going from new to full, and anything done during this time has the best chance for growth, expansion and gain.  The two week period after the Full Moon is the Moon's waning phase. She is decreasing in light, and this is the best time to consolidate, organize and complete that which you began earlier.

Because the Moon moves so quickly, she may make several aspects during the course of a day. The Moon's first applying aspect at the time you begin something describes how your action gets off the ground and/or the circumstances you may encounter. The Moon's last aspect before she changes signs describes the end result or eventual outcome of your action. The Moon's final aspect is by far the most important and a favorable aspect is essential if you want a positive result.

I see your meaning however my intent is to illustrate that one can work with the Moon to determine the quality of the day. the excerpt i posted is taken from an article I wrote for The Mountain Astrologer. The objective is to illustrate that although electional astrology is most often used to select a good date/time to undertake a specific endeavor - it can also be used in this simplified way.

Neutral Day
Moon void-of-course
The categorization of 'neutral' is given when the Moon is void for most of the day which is the case on Thursday. The Moon is void-of-course beginning at 7:40 AM eastern time until 6:25 PM. While the Moon is void we feel unconnected and without direction. It is an ideal time for introspection but not action. For electional purposes when the Moon is void-of-course it is not a good time to initiate something new. If something is begun on a void Moon it usually fizzles out because there is not enough momentum to get it going. In some instances a void Moon can be helpful because you can use this time if you want to diminish the consequences of an action or statement.

Variable Day
Moon in Aquarius conjunct Neptune
While the Moon is in Aquarius people tend to be interested in the welfare of others. However an atmosphere of confusion or misinformation may contribute to an uncertain outcome with anything begun now. Additionally tomorrow's new Moon suggests it's too soon to go forward with your plans. Wait a day or two to launch new initiatives.

Variable Day
Moon in Aquarius conjunct Neptune
The designation "variable" refers to a day when the outcome is not clearly defined. To some extent it is determined by your willingness to be adaptable because something is vague or unknown. It could be that resources are lacking and you must stretch your budget to get the job done. It is likely that to make headway you may have to give up something but success is possible.

Neutral Day
Moon void-of-course
Today the Moon turns void at 9:33 AM eastern time and remains so until 7:31 PM. When the Moon is void-of-course we feel unconnected and without direction. It is an ideal time for introspection but not action. For electional purposes when the Moon is void-of-course it is not a good time to initiate something new. If something is begun on a void Moon it usually fizzles out because there is not enough momentum to get it going. This evening's Venus Jupiter conjunction supports love, music and the arts.
