Aromatic rubbing alcohols

Post by aelis2004 » Mon Aug 01, 2005 4:44 pm

This is better than oil for an energizing massage. To make it, it's just the same as you would do to make an essential oil, (see the "how to maike essential oils" post, http://www.MysticBoard.com/viewtopic.php?t=2419 ) but using alcohol instead. The "cheap" way is using the alcohol you use for disinfecting scratches, which has the inconvenience of having a fragrance of its own. This won't be as strong once the flowers have given their essence to the liquid. Perfumer's alcohol, which has no fragrance, is very expensive.
If you do rosemary alcohol, for example, you'll have to change the flowers every 2-3 days. You will notice when it's time, becuase they will have become totally discoloured and when you extract them from the alcohol with a teaspoon you will notice they have become hard, as if you had frozen them.... be curious, touch them (they don't bite....), and it's quite a funny feeling!
These rubbing alcohols have the advantage over oil that when you rub them on to the skin that alcohol evaporates quickly and leaves no grease behind. That is advantage enough to make them an easy-to-use emergency solution too.
