Divination Sticks
Where I come from, if we have a question that we can't find an answer to, we go to the Goddess of Mercy temple and cast divination sticks. But it is sometimes difficult if you do not concentrate on the question, the stick that is presented will always be rejected when you cast the oracle stones (two red crescent shape pcs) for a yes or no if this is the correct answer to the question.
Like this morning, when I asked a question, I was rejected twice before the correct answer was revealed. It is a short cut to the casting of coins in I-ching.
If MB can come up with this software, it will be great.

I use the 16 stick method to cast the hexagram. This works quite well for me. It does have a mathematical significance; however, the reason why I like using the 16 stick method is because it feels right to me. I build the hexagram from the bottom up and I return each stick I draw immmediately to the bag of sticks so that I will always have 16 sticks to draw frrom, for each line.
yang sticks(unmarked) = 5
changing yang sticks(marked red end) = 3
yin sticks (marked with a black bar near end) = 7
changing yin stick (marked with black bar & red end) = 1
----------------------
Total Sticks = 16
yang sticks(unmarked) = 5
changing yang sticks(marked red end) = 3
yin sticks (marked with a black bar near end) = 7
changing yin stick (marked with black bar & red end) = 1
----------------------
Total Sticks = 16
The Universe provides unlimited potential.
Do not limit the Force.
Do not limit yourself.

Need 50
Take one out set it aside so you have 49 (Yes, seriously)
Spilt into two even piles.
Take the right pile, take one stick out and place it between the pinky and ring finger of the left hand.
Then begin counting out set of four until you are left with 1,2,3 or 4 sticks
And put that between the ring and middle finger of left hand.
Now take the left pile and begin counting in fours until you are left with 1,2,3 or 4 sticks.
This is your first line 5 is new Yang, 9 is old Yang, 4 is new Yin 8 is old Yin
Put the sticks in your hands aside and mix the remaining sticks and start again.
I know I am missing something :smt017

Oooh, you have far more years than me then, lol. With the I-ching I dabble, I drift in and out and pick up more and think and then go away and digest and then come back again. I was given a set of coins when I was a child, and have kept them ever since I have always preferred my tarot but so many new decks use the I-ching and show runes, hex's, letters etc that my interest has recenlty been renewed, hence this post

A nice way I found to learn the changes is to cast a hexagram for the year. Around Dec. ask the I Ching to describe the coming year e.g. 2008. If you get no changing lines you start with that hexagram. If you get changing lines you start with the final hexagram. Then for each month you mover through the changes starting at the bottom and move up.
For example say your final hexagram is #1 Qian, then #44 Gou that becomes Jan then #33 Dun is Feb, #12 Kun is March etc etc until you get to July then you start at the bottom again. Each month dedicated to a given month.

Sorry I did not know where to put this. Because I could not see new thread.
I asked the I Ching a question and the answer I could read anyway so I would like an interpretation if you would be so kind thank you.
Limitation. Success.
Galling limitation must not be persevered in.Water over lake: the image of Limitation.
Thus the superior man
Creates number and measure,
And examines the nature of virtue and correct conduct.
