Beliefs...?

Post by Rohiniranjan » Tue Jul 14, 2015 2:47 pm

I heard a psychic (on a recording) comment, *Beliefs are conjured up by human minds as a defense mechanism against fear, although in most situations they end up substituting one fear with another...!*

But surely just one person 'conjours them up'  and then uses them to keep control of everyone else?

Ah! Like the 'village ghost' that lives on the bargad* tree? ;-)

But surely not all beliefs are superstitions?
I mean, ghost do exist! Right...?    :smt103

Actually, I had never heard the name Banyan, so went to look it up. I think I understand your post now lol. Do ghosts exist?  Define 'ghost', then I might answer ..

Does the rose exist because of its scent?
Does the scent remain when the rose ceases to exist??
And even after the scent dissipates away with time and breeze???
Does the molecule that created the perception of scent cease to exist????

You answer a single question with four more?

I was wondering what your interpretation of ghost was.
Not all roses have a scent though.
But, I guess perhaps that too is like humans, spiritless?

But look at it this way:
Answers are like processed packages of food.
Convenient, can be pricey (or not -- bowing deeply to Omnipresent, Omnipotent, fast food temples of Annapoorna (The indian goddess of food and satiety!) but frowned upon by the cogniscentii with ever-changing views (Nutritionists and bariatric medicine specialists).

Questions, on the other hand are like recipes that make us work harder, learn about foods, make us handle vegetables and kind of get to know our food before it lands on our plate. (I used to have cullinophobia: fear of cooking!). Wait! Questions are like the wholistic process of getting to know about hunger, planning the meal, finding resources, cooking. To sum up, enjoying the entire experience and *connecting* through it with the *Élan vital* that is within us all! Sometimes appearing disembodied and alien and even fear-provoking at time for many.

Also I am a very boring "old school" kind of person who learned long ago that quickie answers though satisfying at first simply led to questions and more questions and we might as well have learnt to cook in the first place. Or *fish* which is a comparable analogy.

Consciousness is the universal fabric from which 'experiences' are cut (tailored) out of...!
