I use a six weeks ahead  forcast spread....

Card 1........Where I am
Card 2........Week one
Card 3........Week two
Card 4........Week three
Card 5........Week Six
Card 8.........Where I would like to be
Card 9.........The key to long term future

You can also add more or less weeks by what your looking for.
I love this spread- I put it in my planner each week.

You can also do the 12 month and the 1 card for today. The 12 month is 12 cards layed out either in a circle or in rows. Each card represents a month. You can do also a 2 week or a 3 week. Actually you can do any time amount. I like the 12 month, but I also use others if I need to see about something right then.

is it the spread itself that can be used for time or are there any symbols within   the cards you can use also?

When using a Celtic Cross spread how do we determine time from there?

I understand your question lilmisstarot.
This is how I use it:

Swords: Autumn
Pentacles: Winter
Cups: Spring
Wands: Summer

Ace: denotes the season when things might happen.
After that from two to number ten...... I take them as the number of weeks of that particular season.

Court cards I take them as a transitional perdiod between seasons.

I know that in the Celtic Cross spread when you are looking at the past you can see how far ahead the event in the future is by assessing how long ago the event in the past occured and compare that time period with that to the future. Does that make sense?
Like say the past card was the 6 of cups and your ex called you (four months ago) and you got the 3 of swords and four months later your current significant other leaves you....Did that help? :D
Hope so.
As above, So below, So within, as Without

That's an interesting way to decide on a time. I like your way!!

So for e.g (just to make sure my silly blonde head understands lol) if you got a 6 of cups.  It means it will happen roughly in the 6th week of spring....Am i right??

Yes Lilmisstarot

your assessment of the 6 of cups is correct.
That is how I work - simple.
Test it and see if it will make sense.

smiles.

I simply 'ask' for a particular time when doing the cards.
If a situation comes up that I want to explore I ask questions and hopefully the answers come through.
If they don't then the time is not right to know the answer.
