Angelique, your last message really moved me.
I love how readings can connect people. Thank you for the mantra, I will keep it handy. :)

Thanks for the reading
Thank you so much for this very detailed reading. It is so different from my first reaction to the cards. Ultimately it is difficult to get past my own anxieties when doing my own reading so I really appreciate your helping me see this from an outside perspective. Some of what you said does strike a...

Birthday spread - powerful cards - how to interpret?
I typically avoid doing readings for myself, but this last birthday I thought I would give it a whirl. Using the Celtic Cross with the Rider Waite deck the following cards came up: 1. Covering - The Tower 2. Crossing - Wheel of Fortune 3. Foundation - Knight of Swords 4. ...

Experience using playing cards for readings?
When I was young my mother taught me how to read cards using a regular deck of playing cards. She used a deck passed down to her from her grandmother-in law. Each card has a handwritten meaning. When I started studying Tarot I observed that many of the Tarot cards had a similar meaning to the playin...

Reading for yourself
Hi Hailey, Since I posted a similar question I wanted to give you my take. Keep in mind I am a beginner. Smile. My thoughts on this are that any reading that we do is by definition biased to some degree. We all tend to see things through the filters of our own experience, beliefs and perspective. Bi...

Card spread most used
Hi Gem, I think this is a great question. Since I consider myself a beginner I want to make sure I continue to try using a number of different spreads so I don't get too attached to one particular spread. While I find that the Celtic Cross seems to be the most interesting without getting overly comp...

Happy to be Joining In on Tarot Classes
Hi Gem, I wanted to let you know that I have joined in on the lessons you have posted. I am enjoying the lessons, Tarot Software and especially like the reference table available on the site for the meanings of the cards. I am amazed at the difference I feel now when I go through my own home learnin...

Do you call them "Clients"?
Is Client the proper term for the person who gets the reading?
The word "client" in my mind seems to imply that money was received for the reading.
I guess I am also getting the term "client" from many if the Tarot books I use as a reference.
Your thoughts?

Discussions that follow Readings
Thanks so much for the advice. Over the weekend I did two readings and it was a good experience for all involved. It seems that a reading naturally provokes a discussion of life issues. Since a certain degree of intimacy is created by the reading, I am tempted to give advice, opinions, etc. I have m...

This is a fantastic resource. I have been dipping into the free Tarot Software which is great but find these tables to be a powerful tool in those situations when I just want to select a particular card. I am able to delve into not only the interpretation that is found in the Tarot Software but also...

Questioning the wisdom of doing readings for myself
I am a relative beginner with Tarot. I am fairly proficient with the cards and a few of the spreads (I like the Celtic Cross best). Currently I do about 4-5 spreads a week but have only done so for myself. I am a bit nervous about knowing when I can venture out to do readings with another pers...

Questioning the wisdom of perfoming readings for myself
Thanks Kerosh. That is an interesting cautionary tale and you touched upon one of my concerns in your reply. My main concern, which you so vividly articulated, is that by doing readings for myself or even by myself I might become isolated and lose the perspective I rely upon to keep me balanc...

Hello from Wellington, FL
My name is Lisa and I live in tropical Wellington, Florida even though we currently are under Phase II drought restrictions on watering. I have joined this forum because I have been trying to teach myself Tarot and have a dozen books but it has been a slow process for me so far. Do any of you...
